TRIP TO “YERCAUD” and “THIRUCHENGODE HILLS”

This episode speaks about an extravaganza happened recently. It’s a new episode about our travel experiences that are happening neither rapidly nor occasionally. I am sure you will get at least one in a month, whenever we get one such parody it’s persuaded to you as such.

Here comes the first one, an incredible trip to Yercaud and Trichengode hills

Yercaud and Trichengode are situated around Salem a well know city in TamilNadu, India.

Yercaud – a hill station which is in above +1000 msl height is in Eastern Guards of South India.   And  30 km far from Salem

Trichengode – a town which has various temples is in TamilNadu and is 50 km far from Salem.

Here come the happenings of the trip, As we had planned a week before, we started our trip to Kolli Hills from Bangalore on 8th Friday August 2008 night 9.00 P.M. We reached Salem at 2.40 A.M. and

finally we reached Rajaganapathy’s home at 3.15 A.M.

It’s obvious that humans are from monkeys. So we changed our plan to Yercaud on Saturday and Kolli hills on Sunday. After a small rest up to 7.30 A.M we got ourselves refreshed in home and had our breakfast as Idly and Dosa (Sambar and Ground Nut Chutney – A favorite dish for Soundar) in  home and we packed our lunch too (Variety rice with some Vada’s and Kesari).

We were in such a joyous mood; we started enjoying the day even before we started the trip. We got into the car in a hurry and got settled quickly. Now the time was 09.00 AM. We reached the foot hills of Yercaud on around 9.45 A.M. Then we started climbing the hills. For Soundar and Rajkumar this was the first time to Yercaud and for Karthik and Ravi it was a trip after so long time.

It was a refrigerated morning in Yercaud; we started enjoying the symphony of the wind with soothing music in the car. Everyone started to crack jokes. Our friend Rajkumar played the major role for his crooked jokes. Inspired by Rajkumar the entire team started rejoicing those moments. The jerks from the car added more fun to the panorama.

After 45 minutes we reached the Lake in Yercaud. To our amazement, at that instant, a film shoot which coincidentally happened to be S.V.Sekar’s son was being shot besides the lake. We had some fruits over there alongside of the lake, and then we started to move to Pagoda Point. Pagoda point is one of the well known view points in Yercaud. In Pagoda point the climate was simply frozen and the view was breathtaking thanks to the oak trees which were like a hill enveloped by the silver carpet.

Once we came back from the Pakkoda point we went to Ladies, Gents and Children’s Seat which was also the major view points of Yercaud. There we were covered by the snow and from here Soundar was personally disturbed by the climate which asked for some solitude from his side rather than being with friends, just to enjoy that poetic climate. Then we went to the Rose Garden and we just could not resist ourselves from taking snaps of the beautiful flowers, Biological Garden and Guava Trees. We spent lot of time over there with nature.

From there we went to the crest of Yercaud called as “Shervaroyan Hills”. We took many snaps. It is also one of the best places in Yercaud to embrace, Play Cricket and so on. We went to “Shervaroyan Perumal Temple” which is sited inside the Caves.

It was a splendid experience that the climate makes us to forget food by keeping ourselves iced. Now the time was 3.00 P.M. Since it was a plain surface we have decided to finish our lunch there and did it.

From Shervaroyan hills we moved to Yercaud Lake, In Lake there is Government boat house in operational. We took two self driven boats and we begin our sailing in the lake. The water was like a block of ice and our hearts too. In the lake Rajaganapathy and Ravi took a boat. Karthik, Soundar and Rajkumar took another boat and we pedaled the boat and the scene of lake simultaneously. We dashed the boats. Here Soundar came back to his regular frame of mind from his elegiac thoughts.

After having a cup of tea at around 5.00 P.M, we started to come down from the hills since we had finished seeing almost all the known places in Yercaud. As we are in a festive atmosphere the car gets faster and faster. Truly “We are not Driving fast we were Just Flying Low”.

We reached the foothills in another 30 minutes. Soundar was very fervent to saw Subramaniyapuram Movie. This was in agenda already. So we went to the movie in theatre Alankar. We all miss ourselves in the movie. It was poetic venture by the Sasikumar, the Director of the movie.

End of the First day, we went to bed with mixtures of sundry feelings and cherished jiffy of the events. We will check out the next crack of dawn soon….
